Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Everyone is hustling and bustling during this chilly holiday season. Ok. COLD!! Not as cold as, say, Minnesota, but cold nevertheless.

Busy too, is the band and the offshoot woodwind ensemble, Zephyr. We've been hard at work practicing Christmas carols to play in the area. Here is where you can find us!

Tuesday, December 13, 11:30am: Zephyr will be playing Christmas music at the Hickory Soup Kitchen, 110 2nd St Pl SE, Hickory. We will be playing during the lunch rush so stop by for a listen and maybe leave a little something for the good folks at the Soup Kitchen.

Wednesday, December 14, 10:00am: Abernethy Laurels 102 Leonard Ave, Newton (just off Hwy 16). The whole band will be there to play Christmas music for the residents of Abernethy Laurels. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you stopping by to listen and help them celebrate the season!

On Saturday, December 17, we conclude our Christmas programs by playing holiday music during the annual free Community Breakfast at Augustana Lutheran Church in Hickory. Their address is 1523 16th St SE - they are located behind Office Max / across Hwy 70 from Chick-Fil-A. Breakfast is served from 7am - 10:00am and the band will begin playing sets around 8am. Come out for a nice, hot, FREE, breakfast and enjoy the holiday music.

Wishing you Peace & Love and best wishes for a Merry Christmas!!🎄

We are approaching the end of our sixth year as a band. Hard to believe we started out with seven members and now we have over 35! WOW!!!  Plus, we still have room for more!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work, especially our director, Len Allman. Without him we would not be a band.

I would also like to invite you - EVERYONE - to our 2nd Annual Public Concert. Admission is free and the concert will last about an hour. Please check out the details on the attached flyer.

If you are interested in joining us, please feel free to comment here or contact me, Cynthia Summey, at thea21159@aol.com.

Happy Day in May!

First, my sincerest apologies to the band members and to any out there who may be following. I did not realize that I had neglected this blog AND the Facebook page since December. I strive to do better from this point forward.

This has been a good semester with many opportunities to play.

On February 24, the band performed at the Tarlton Center at CVCC at a Black History Month event. This was a wonderful event and lots of fun learning a couple of new songs.
On March 3, we had the opportunity to play for the local AARP chapter at First Baptist, Hickory.
April 29th found us performing for the seniors group at St Andrews Lutheran Church.

TODAY we were honored, once again, to perform at the CVMC Senior Resource Fair. We played two sets and even though we were competing with a rather loud waterfall and a not-so-loud television, folks came up and told us we sound great. A few even recorded a song or two.

Next week we will be performing two concerts.
Monday, May 11, we will be performing The Star Spangled Banner at the Crawdads game in Hickory. The game starts at 6:00pm so COME ON OUT and hear us!
Tuesday, May 12, we will be playing for a meeting of the local Kiwanis Club.

On Thursday, May 21, we will perform at our first ever PUBLIC concert. More on that in a separate post!

STAY TUNED!
